Summer 2013

Happy Spring, Entomophiles! Seemed like a long winter, and now that the sun is out we can’t seem to slow down the days to savor it. As Groucho Marx said… “Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.”

NWERC is in full field-season mode: we’ve been out scouting our sites, prepping our equipment, and we’re ready to go. There have been some big announcements in the last few weeks, the biggest of which is the selection of our 2013 Interns. Though this year’s applicants were all very competitive and the decision difficult, we are very pleased to have selected two very well-qualified students, Tony Bernabo (OSU), and Stephanie Roddy (VCU). We will also be joined by returners Collin Peterson, who will be this year’s Field Crew Manager, and James Dinger, who will be part time Field Crew while working on an exciting new administrative project. More about our field crew members will be posted on the NWERC Facebook page, so give us a “like” and follow along with your favorites as they update with blogs, photos, entomo-info, and contests.
